Central Jakarta Prepares Strategies to Prevent Spike in COVID-19 Cases

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma led evaluation meeting to prevent spike in COVID-19 cases, on Monday (6/7).

It is necessary to anticipate it by involving all stakeholders

This meeting which held online was attended by vice mayor, secretary, urban village heads, sub-district heads, representatives and leaders of regional apparatus organizations who are members of Central Jakarta COVID-19 Task Force.

According to him, trend in the current number of COVID-19 cases was soaring, although it was still under extreme conditions that occurred in last January to February. Indication of soaring COVID-19 cases can be seen from bed occupancy rate, both in hospital and ICU that touches 45 percent.

"It indicates that COVID-19 cases are rising, thus it is necessary to anticipate it by involving all stakeholders," he stated.

There are preventive measures that can be taken, he continued, such as re-activating all COVID-19 posts or task forces, from RT, RW, and urban village levels.

"Role of RT and RW is very important. They will monitor how many cases occur in RT," he mentioned.

Moreover, his side also asked Satpol PP to intensify mask operation in road crossings and crowded locations.

"Mask operation will be intensified, especially in crowded locations, in order to increase people's awareness in wearing mask when doing activities outside," he said.
